Chris Aitchison

Chris AitchisonChris is experienced in designing and implementing a variety of solutions, ranging from single site solutions with a few dozen users, to global solutions on distributed highly available infrastructure servicing more than 40 countries and 10,000 users.

In addition to the core P8 components, Chris has implemented solutions using BPF, eForms, Records Manager, Workplace XT, and Workplace with customizations (done properly, without recompiling the original source, which results in an unpatchable product). He also has extensive experience implementing bespoke solutions using frameworks such as Spring and Java Server Faces.

Chris is an IBM FileNet Certified Solution Architect, with all P8 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 Developer and Administrator certifications, as well as the 4.5 Technical Support Provider (Installation) certification.  He is also an IBM certified instructor, able to deliver any of the FileNet P8 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 training courses, with experience delivering training throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including in Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, India and New Zealand.

Chris has had success working closely with offshore vendors in their home towns on behalf of customers to oversee final product quality. He has found that the difference between project success or failure when off-shoring can be as simple as having a single person on-site to bridge any communication gaps and provide mentoring on best practices in general application development and (especially) the correct use of the FileNet product suite to ensure scalability, reliability and upgradablility.

Chris is a proponent of agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum and PRINCE2, and development practices such as test driven development, continuous integration, automated unit testing (including UI testing), and refactoring.

Chris's skills include:  IBM FileNet Certified Solution Architect, IBM FileNet P8 4.5 Technical Support Provider (Installation), PRINCE2 certified, Sun Certified Java Programmer, J2EE, Spring, Java Server Faces, FileNet Web Application Toolkit, Hibernate, JUnit, Mockito, Ant, Maven, Nexus, Jira, Trac, Bamboo, WebSphere, Tomcat, Ant, Tomcat, Eclipse, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, VBA
